This locus represents a naturally occurring readthrough transcript between the RIPPLY2 and CYB5R4 genes, with some variants encoding a truncated protein lacking the N-terminal region of CYB5R4 while others are likely degraded by nonsense-mediated decay. Currently, no established human diseases have been definitively associated with mutations in this readthrough transcript. The clinical significance of variants in this locus remains to be determined.
